Leela: The Divine Play is a spellbinding Bharatanatyam solo that explores the eternal idea of divinity as a cosmic performer. Shreema Upadhyaya draws from the Margam structure to weave compositions that embody tenderness, compassion, fierceness, playfulness, and transcendence. Mahmood Farooqui’s Dastan-e-Guru Dutt is an evocative storytelling tapestry that positions Guru Dutt among the cinematic greats—Raj Kapoor, Bimal Roy, and Mehboob Khan. Traversing Bombay noir, the ache of its rain-soaked melancholy, the brilliance of Geeta Roy and Waheeda Rehman, the lyricism of Sahir and S. D. Dastan Dhai Aakhar Ki revisits the life, poetry, and philosophy of Kabir Das. Drawing from the Bijaks and scholarship by Hazari Prasad Dwivedi, Mujeeb Rizvi, Purushottam Agrawal, Linda Hess, Ali Sardar Jafri, and more, it reframes Kabir through the lens of existentialism, Buddha, Ambedkar, Iqbal, Mir, Ghalib, and contemporary thought. A stirring re-illumination of Kabir’s timeless, rebellious voice.

The festival culminates in a thunderous jazz finale. The evening opens with a 25-minute acoustic solo by Sanjay Divecha, setting a contemplative tone. Then comes the high-energy main set led by maestro Louiz Banks and powerhouse drummer Gino Banks, joined by an extraordinary ensemble. The addition of tap dancer Rahul D’Lima elevates the performance into a multisensory feast of rhythm, harmony, and improvisation.
