It’s SMM Ausaja’s book, The Bachchans, accolades for Emraan Hashmi for his performance in Tiger 3, Urvashi Rautela, Georgia Andriani and above all else, Mithoon at the ITA Awards 2023, making the news this week, reports the #Newsdesk!

SMM Ausaja's book, The Bachchans: A Saga of Excellence

SMM Ausaja authored a career chronicle of three generations of a family, 'The Bachchans: A Saga of Excellence', will be an integral part of India's precious cinematic heritage. Author, memorabilia archivist and film historian SMM Ausaja's two previous coffee table books, Bollywood in Posters and Bollywood - The Films, The Songs, The Stars, were bestsellers.

Probably no other family in India has had the kind of hold on the Indian psyche as the Bachchans have. The cultural landscape of India is incomplete without their mention. Although Amitabh Bachchan is the most celebrated of them all, the Bachchan family’s engagement with India’s socio-cultural space starts well before him, in the early years of the twentieth century, with the birth of Harivansh Rai Bachchan, and continues into the third decade of the twenty-first, with the imminent film debut of Agastya Nanda.

SMM Ausaja’s The Bachchans: A Saga of Excellence is a stunning visual chronicle of this history spanning over a hundred years. The author goes back in time to Allahabad in the early 1900s to document the life and times of Harivansh Rai Bachchan, his literary accomplishments with the publication of his book Madhushala, the tragic death of his first wife, his marriage to Teji (Sarojini Naidu introduced the couple to the Nehru family as ‘the poet and the poem’!), and the birth of their sons Amitabh and Ajitabh. This pictorial biography then goes on to record the remarkable film careers of Amitabh Bachchan (arguably, the greatest star India has ever produced), his wife Jaya Bhaduri (who was a bigger star before her husband went ahead), and their son Abhishek Bachchan and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai (both among the biggest stars of the new millennium).

In The Bachchans, Ausaja, a sort of Boswell to Amitabh Bachchan, archiving all film-related memorabilia pertaining to the actor, offers the ultimate scholarly tribute to the family with a dazzling kaleidoscope of never-before-seen images, posters, stills and photographs, that are bound to thrill and mesmerize all those interested in the story of this remarkable family. Gorgeously designed and beautifully produced, this is not just a collector’s edition but also a visual history, like none other, of an important page of India’s popular culture.

Interestingly, the book penned by SMM Ausaja and published by Ajay Mago of Om Books boasts of visuals include specially made artworks by noted artists Shrikant Dhongade, Anil Soni, Saurabh Turakhia, Shailesh Acharekar and P G Sharma among others, making it a Collector's Delight.

Watch out for this masterpiece!

Mithoon dedicates ITA award to wife Palak Muchhal, says ‘Kyonki tum hi ho!’

Melodious power couple composer Mithoon and singer Palak Muchhal took to stage together again as winners at the recent Indian Television Awards (ITA) at Filmcity with super-excited fans cheering for their favourite celebs walking the red carpet.

Mithoon, whose Gadar 2 songs are still making waves the world over, dedicated the award to his wife Palak, who also dedicated her special award to him and sang Ghar Aaja Pardesi from Gadar 2 and Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2.

“I am blessed that Gadar 2 is so loved by the audiences. Sayeed Quadri saab’s lyrics were so amazing that they stood up to the original Anand Bakshi ji’s lyrics. He is as much a recipient of the award as me. It was a great responsibility and I am glad I could do justice to it. Aashiqui 2, earlier, was as big a responsibility.”

The soft-spoken Mithoon also took this opportunity to express his love for his wife Palak. He said, “I dedicate my success to Palak as she is my life partner;  my credit and happiness are as much hers as they are mine”. He ended his speech with, “Kyunki tum hi ho...”

Palak beamed at the compliment. Looks like in the song of life, love is the melody for Mithoon and Palak!
