Indigenous teenagers from across Australia are using hip hop and social media to bring attention to social issues affecting their communities. The B-Town Warriors, from Bourke High School in north-western New South Wales, have had their song People of the Red Sunset added to the Triple J playlist and reached hundreds of thousands of viewers on YouTube. Teacher Shirlee Rowland said People of the Red Sunset premiered in Bourke's Central Park to a live audience of 500. "I cried when I saw it, and I still do cry sometimes, it was just amazing," she said. "We also played it throughout the school on the intercom and we had kids running out of classes screaming and yelling and cheering, very excited." People of the Red Sunset was written about substance abuse and crime in Bourke, and was produced with the assistance of Desert Pea Media.
