Girls Rehabilitated From Red Light Areas To Model At Lakme Fashion Week

Yet, the industry continues to boom, especially in India. Several designers have made their name known on a global scale, thanks to the amount of opportunities made available to them by fashion shows hosted within our country in part but lately, fashion shows are making headlines for reasons other than the norm. The most recent being about the girls from a NGO called Kranti, who will take the runway by storm at the upcoming Lakme Fashion Week. Sponsored by IMG Reliance, Lakme Fashion Week is one of India’s most famous shows, and has launched several careers since its inception in 1999. This year, the show intends to use its large influence and give a voice to those who are often ignored or shunned in society. The show’s Fashion Curator, Gautam Vazirani was the pioneering force behind this move, as he wanted the show to merge the theme of social responsibility with fashion.
