The 4th Edition of The Battle of Voices, hosted by Voice of Achievers and Bloggers Alliance at Jio Institute, showcased the rising influence of podcasting in India’s digital landscape. Bringing together leading podcasters, storytellers, and industry pioneers, the event celebrated creativity, innovation, and the growing power of podcasts in branding, audience engagement, and community-building. Key highlights included industry panels, live storytelling performances, and awards recognizing India’s most influential podcasters, setting the stage for future growth in digital storytelling.
The 4th Edition of The Battle of Voices, organized by Voice of Achievers and Bloggers Alliance, took place at the prestigious Jio Institute in Navi Mumbai, uniting podcasters, digital storytellers, and industry professionals for a day of insights, creativity, and celebration. This year’s event spotlighted podcasts as a transformative medium for storytelling, branding, and audience engagement, reflecting the medium’s growing impact on India’s digital content landscape, now boasting 150 million listeners. With panel discussions, interactive performances, and an awards ceremony, the event highlighted the innovative role of podcasts in shaping the future of media and communication.
Industry Partnerships and Collaboration for Growth
The success of the event was fuelled by contributions from Industry Partners MnM Talkies and Masterclass Partners Ideabrew Studios, who shared insights on podcast production, growth, and marketing. Collaborations with The Radio Festival, Theatrician, Maed in India, and India Podcast List showcased the diversity of genres and audiences in podcasting, turning the event into a melting pot of creative minds and storytelling veterans. Keynote speaker KV Sridhar, Global Chief Creative Officer at Nihilent Limited, opened the event by sharing anecdotes on the power of storytelling in a fast-paced digital world, setting a lively tone for the day.
In the first panel discussion, titled Podcasts: The New Marketing Powerhouse, industry leaders Shimona Mathur from MnM Talkies, Vineet Kanabar from Z47 (fka Matrix Partners), and Archana Kapoor from The Radio Festival delved into podcasting’s evolving role in brand-building. They emphasized building niche, loyal audiences over metrics, showcasing how authentic storytelling cultivates brand loyalty and deeper connections. The discussion also explored podcasting’s potential as a long-form, emotionally resonant medium that supports brands in crafting impactful, engaging stories that inspire trust and engagement.
Storytelling as a Tool for Leadership and Community Building
Interactive sessions featured prominently, particularly an engaging workshop led by Tathagata Chowdhury, a seasoned theatre actor and founder of Theatrician. Chowdhury’s session on voice modulation and expression underscored the importance of theatrical techniques in creating immersive podcast experiences, demonstrating how storytelling tools from theatre can enhance digital narratives.
Addressing the role of storytelling in leadership and organizational culture, Sachin Karnik, Founder of The Great Unicorn Hub, discussed the power of narratives in pitching startup visions to investors. Harjeet Khanduja, VP of HR at Reliance Jio, further elaborated on podcasting as a medium for authentic corporate communication, reinforcing its relevance for leadership. The second panel discussion, The Future of Digital Storytelling: Elevating Podcasts & Vodcasts, was led by Dr. Amit Nagpal, featuring prominent voices such as Rima Amarapurkar, Nimisha Sirohi, Aditya Kuber, and Mae Mariyam Thomas. Panellists reflected on how podcasts and vodcasts are diversifying into new formats, from narrative-driven storytelling to documentary-style episodes, fostering meaningful communities around niche topics.
Celebrating India’s Top Podcasters
The highlight of the event was the Battle of Voices Awards, which honoured India’s finest podcasters across categories. Aishwarya Ashok won first place in the Professional – Indie Podcast category for her podcast Founder’s Foyer, with Rakesh Soni and the duo of Samentha Fernandes & Arnold Medeira sharing second place honours for India Unveiled and The Weekend Brain, respectively. In the Professional – Regional Podcast category, Soham Sabnis won first place with Mangalwar Marketing, followed by Sohm Kurulkar for Cosmos Star Media. Dakshin Gangotri’s India’s Greatest Journeys, produced by MnM Talkies, led the Professional – Backed by Studio category, while Abhishek Mittal’s Wisdom Whispers, supported by Ideabrew Studios, earned second place. In the Student Podcast category, Gaavgunj by Alina Shaikh, Jahnvi, and Shreya received top honours, while Aaqib Rangraze’s Baawra Mann claimed second place. CNS Narsee School received a special award for their podcast CNS Den, acknowledging their dedication to introducing podcasting to students.
