The Defiant Ones is a four-part dazzling yet definitive narrative of the Dr. Dre and Jimmy Lovine - the unlikely partnership, the bromance they shared and their maverick mindedness. Witness what served the career ascent of these record producers; in Dr. Dre’s terms- even when they were close to defeat see what got their feet rising.

The Defiant Ones chronicles a rags-to-riches saga in this more than four-hour long end-to-end docu-series of two mavericks that redefined the hip-hop industry. Dr. Dre has been known as an unmatchable producer, bringing tracks of not just his labelists on the table but an unprecedented definition of the hip-hop industry as a whole and when it comes to fossicking for someone who could lay your saga right before a curious world, they definitely zeroed-in-on the right man! The film has a mind-blowing visual aspect to it with the cinematography done spot on - sojourning to elegant mansion interiors and private-jet cabins, the backdrop painted by the picturesque Malibu beaches, a dekko into the yachts and acreages- every single aspect giving an immaculate, glossy picture of the story.

The first two episodes of The Defiant Ones accounts briefly the biggest deal that Dr. Dre and his management team brokered for a hip-hop artist ever the goof up which emanated and documents the early lives of Jimmy Lovine. A great commentary by a stellar celebrity cast gets you floored as we examine the partnership between Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre - the former, son of a Brooklyn longshoreman and the latter straight out of Compton - their leading roles in a chain of transformative events in a contemporary culture.

The last two episodes of the docu-series reveals how after certain slumps owing to Dre’s solo releases, Dre’s fortunes changing when Jimmy turns him on to the music of a then unexplored rapper Eminem; an opportune sit-down between Jimmy and Dre, the birth of a revolutionary idea - Beats electronics which sets to create that much needed dent in the universe.
The final half-hour seems adulterated by the promotions of Beats headphones and throws you off guard (this was a documentary, wasn’t it?). But that’s that folks, everything else about this narrative accentuates the title perfectly!
