It will be held in Mumbai at the Nehru Science Centre in Worli from 10 am – 6 pm. The exhibits will give visitors a chance to see and experience for themselves, how Bayer improves the quality of life for people worldwide. In India, the theme of the exhibition will focus around “Making Science Make Sense”, which is Bayer’s flagship educational initiative that promotes science education through fun experiments.
The exhibits comprise of 21, two-meter high boxes with capital letters, each of which refers to a Bayer topic – from A for “Aspirin” and E for “Enhancing Global Food Security” to S for “Science”. Each box contains images and information on the scientific background and social aspects of the Bayer topic in question. Set up together, the boxes spell out Bayer's mission: “Science For A Better Life”. These exhibits are designed specifically to be touched and explored, unlike at most exhibitions where visitors are instructed not to touch the displays. This concept of the exhibition combining entertaining elements with educational ones, makes it all the more interactive and exciting.
Besides the exhibition, there will also be many sessions by renowned experts, workshops on interesting topics; on-the-spot quiz contests etc.
"The exhibits on show are taken from real-life, tangible examples and intend to make clear how Bayer, through research and innovative products, is committed to human, animal and plant health”, said Richard van der Merwe, Senior Bayer Representative, South Asia. He further added, “Anybody wishing to gain a fascinating and informative insight into how science enriches our daily lives, is more than welcome to visit our Science For A Better Life Tour”.
Bayer celebrated its 150th Anniversary in 2013, and since then, the “Science For A Better Life” tour has travelled the world welcoming almost 200,000 visitors in major cities such as London, Shanghai, New York and Sydney. This year, besides Mumbai, the tour will also stop in cities like Sao Paulo, Mexico-City and Zurich.
