Efforts Are On To Reduce Maternal Deaths

Every year, more than 19 lakh women become pregnant in the state. Out of them, around 1.9 lakh women come up with complaints of different kinds of complications, while more than 38,000 need intensive care before they give birth to babies, said health department officials.If calculating total mortality of pregnant women in the state on the basis of SRS survey 2011-13, showing 244 maternal deaths per 1 lakh live births, it will give an estimated figure of 4,636 pregnant women dying every year. But it is an estimated figure of deaths based on SRS survey .
