Polio-stricken Arvind Kumar Mishra has been travelling across States in his wheelchair to spread polio awareness

The progress is slow. The rickety wheelchair has a mind of its own. Besides, the roads are not always even. But the will of the man turning the handle bar is strong. It has not flinched even once in the past four years. Arvind Kumar Mishra of Sadaveh village in Bihar is the wheelchair’s master. The polio-stricken 38-year-old’s life has been a medley of adventure, sweat, long stopovers in unknown places and unexpected kindness from strangers along the back-breaking ride across four States on his wheelchair.
